Terms & Conditions

Effective 17 August 2026

1. Introduction

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of The Family Legacy website and application (the "Service"), operated by The Family Legacy ("we", "us", or "our"). The Service helps you preserve family memories, stories, documents, and messages in a private digital vault. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

2. Accounts & Registration

You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your account details current. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You may invite family members to access parts of your vault; you remain responsible for content you add and for the access levels you grant.

3. Subscriptions & Billing

We offer a free trial and paid subscription plans (monthly and yearly) billed via our payment provider, Stripe. Trial eligibility, pricing, and features are shown on our Plans page. Paid subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds, where applicable, are handled at our discretion in line with these Terms. Prices may change with reasonable notice; existing subscriptions are not affected until renewal.

4. Your Family Safe & Content

Your "Family Safe" is your private collection of products and memories. You can add photos, videos, voice recordings, documents, letters, recipes, stories, and other content. You retain ownership of your content. By adding content you confirm you have the rights to do so and that the content does not infringe the rights of any other person. You control who you invite and the access level each person holds (View Only, Contributor/Upload, or Administrator).

5. Time Capsules

Time Capsules let you lock content to become available on a future date or milestone. Lock conditions rely on the dates and details you enter. We use reasonable efforts to release capsules when their conditions are met, but we cannot guarantee delivery to recipients who are not registered users or who have invalid contact details.

6. The Will Vault

The Will Vault is a storage and organisation tool only. It is not a legal service and does not create, amend, or execute a Will. Storing documents in the Will Vault does not constitute legal advice or a legally binding instruction. Funeral wishes and final messages stored here are expressions of your preferences and may not be legally binding on their own. You should consult a qualified legal professional for estate planning and ensure your original legal documents are held with an appropriate provider. We are not responsible for the legal validity, discoverability, or enforcement of anything stored in the Will Vault.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to store unlawful, infringing, harmful, or abusive content, or to harass, deceive, or harm others. You must not attempt to access another user’s vault without authorisation, interfere with the Service, or reverse-engineer or scrape it. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms or applicable law.

8. Privacy

Our handling of your information and content is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please read it to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, its design, branding, and software are owned by us or our licensors. You retain ownership of your content. You grant us a limited licence to host, store, and display your content solely to provide the Service to you and your invited family members.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your content will never be lost. You are encouraged to keep your own backups of important files. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude warranties and conditions that might otherwise apply.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, memories, or profits arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or the minimum required by law.

12. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings, which removes your vault content. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, if required for legal reasons, or if we discontinue the Service. On termination, your right to access the Service ends; we may delete your data after a reasonable period, subject to legal retention needs.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which The Family Legacy operates. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction for disputes arising from these Terms.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes where reasonably possible. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Contact

If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us through the support options available in the Service.
